Singapore is 15 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Time, so most races fall the evening before in California. Race numbers and times come from the IVF draft schedule and are subject to change, particularly during competition week due to weather. Check the IVF YouTube channel for same-day updates.

Guy and Marcie Davis: Singapore Bound

Two more of our own are racing at the 2026 IVF Va'a World Sprint Championships

Webster is not making the trip to Singapore alone. Longtime Capital Outrigger members Guy and Marcie Davis will also be at Marina Bay this August, racing with Hawai'i crews at the IVF Va'a World Sprint Championships.

Marcie goes back as a defending world champion. She and her crew took gold in the V12 at the 2024 IVF World Sprint Championships in Hilo.

Paddling junkies, by their own admission

When they are not on Lake Natoma with us, Guy and Marcie paddle out of three clubs on the Big Island: Waikoloa, Hoemana, and Kai ʻEhitu. That is not a typo. Some people have a home club. These two have a rotation.

They flew to Oahu earlier this year for trials and both qualified.

Who they are racing with

Marcie will paddle with a Women's 70 crew from the Big Island and a Women's 75 crew out of Maui.

Guy will paddle with a Men's 70 crew from the Big Island and a Men's 75 or 80 crew from Anuenue Canoe Club on Oahu, the Waikiki club founded by Nappy Napoleon. That crew is still coming together.

Not their first rodeo

Singapore will be Marcie's sixth IVF World Sprints and Guy's third.

Marcie has raced this same multi-island double before. At the 2022 World Sprints at Lake Dorney in England she competed with a Big Island crew and a Maui crew in what was then the brand new 75-and-older division. Off the water she is a retired teacher and an age-group winner in Olympic distance triathlon, which explains a few things about her engine.

In Guy's words

"We had to go to Oahu earlier this year to qualify to race and we were both successful, so we are leaving on August 17 to sit on an airplane for two seven-and-a-half hour flights. Can't wait for that experience. Not only that, but we lose a day. Where does that day go anyway?

We are both looking forward to Singapore as we have never been there. This will be Marcie's 6th IVF World Sprints and my 3rd attempt at humility. Hopefully we will come home with some bling, if not at least another fantastic experience."

— Guy Davis

Watch them race

The IVF is broadcasting the championships on YouTube. Singapore is 15 hours ahead of Pacific Time, so most racing lands the evening before here in California. Watch for updates on Guy and Marcie’s events.

Go defend it, Marcie. Bring home the bling, you two. All of Ohana Kai will be watching.
