Join Capital Outrigger

Welcome! Joining takes a few steps because Capital Outrigger is the outrigger program of the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. You join both the club and the Aquatic Center. Here is everything, in order.

What it costs

Club membership: $50 per year. Covers club insurance, online services, TeamSnap, and CPR training.

Aquatic Center membership: $420 for 12 months or $275 for 6 months. Family: $635 for 12 months or $425 for 6 months.

Learn to Paddle workshop (one time): $55 general public, $50 Sac State alumni, $45 affiliates, $25 Sac State students. Includes two practices with the club.

Parking at Nimbus Flat: $10 per day, or buy a California State Parks annual pass to save.

Each year for one adult: $50 club dues + $420 Aquatic Center = $470, plus parking.

Seven steps to membership

Step 1: Try it out

Take a Learn to Paddle workshop through the Aquatic Center, or contact our Membership Coordinator to arrange a guest paddle. Already trained by a member? Skip to Step 2. See workshop dates

Step 2: Complete the club application and waiver

Fill out the club's online application and waiver. Every adult member, including spouses and adult children, completes their own. Open the application form

Step 3: Pay your club dues ($50)

Your annual Capital Outrigger membership covers club insurance, online services, TeamSnap, and CPR training. Pay $50 club dues

Step 4: Join the Sacramento State Aquatic Center

Pay the Aquatic Center membership and complete their application and waiver. You will also have your photo taken. You must be an Aquatic Center member (or have a day pass) to paddle with us. Join the Aquatic Center

New members only: if you buy a $25 day pass, you can apply up to $75 (three day passes) toward a membership, as long as you sign up within two weeks of buying the day pass.

Step 5: Sign the NCOCA waiver

Sign the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association waiver and choose Capital Outrigger as your club. This renews every year. Your waiver must be dated on or after February 1 of the current year. Sign the NCOCA waiver

Step 6: Get on TeamSnap

Once your fees are paid, you will receive a TeamSnap invitation by email. TeamSnap is where you sign up for practices. No invite? Contact the Membership Coordinator.

Step 7 (optional): Get a race card

Only if you want to race. A race card registers you to compete, and it starts your two-year novice period, so talk to a coach or our race representative before you sign up. Race card sign-up
