2026 ‘Ohana Kai
Volunteer Opportunities

Our club runs on people who show up with heart, skill, and a willingness to help the community grow. When members bring their strengths forward, we create events that feel good for everyone, build real connections, and keep our programs strong. You don’t need special experience to make a difference. You only need the interest and a little time.

Take a look at the roles below and think about what you enjoy. Maybe you like organizing. Maybe you like talking with people. Maybe you enjoy creative projects. Whatever your strengths are, there is a place for you here. Your involvement helps shape the future of our club and keeps our shared community moving forward.

Big Annual Event

Every strong club grows because people step forward with skills that matter. Your experience, your strengths, and your ideas can shape the heart of our signature annual event. This is your chance to play a real role in how Capital Outrigger shows up for our community.

You might be great at organizing details. You might love connecting with local businesses. You might feel at home coordinating people or creating a safe paddling experience. Whatever you do well, there is space for you here.

We are looking for volunteers who want to take the lead in key areas of the event:

Event Lead, guiding timelines and supporting the full team

Volunteer Coordinator, helping people find the right role for the day-of event

Vendor Coordinator, connecting with partners and managing logistics

Race Coordinator, planning the course, safety process, and paddler flow if we do a paddling event

Aquatic Center Liaison, coordinating venue needs and approvals if we do a paddling event

Marketing Lead, handling social media, flyers, and event updates

Sponsorship Lead, creating outreach materials and building donor support

Raffle Lead, organizing donated items and raffle flow

Silent Auction Lead, securing donated goods and managing bidding

Finance Lead, handling the budget and tracking donations

Plan to meet once a month for a September event.

Your involvement helps us offer a meaningful community event.

If you feel called to contribute, sign up and let us know where you want to help.

Plan Our Monthly Restaurant Fundraising Events

Remember our Mod Pizza night where everyone hung out, shared food, and actually talked with people they had not met before?

We raised a hundred dollars just by spending time together.

Now picture what happens when we add regular social media posts and bring in people from the neighborhood who want to support a local club. We can grow our impact without adding pressure to anyone’s schedule.

I am looking for one or two people to help run these restaurant partnership days. You would visit the partner websites, choose a date, fill out the online form, and keep the club updated. This role helps us build stronger connections in the community and within the club. It gives members more chances to talk, laugh, and get to know each other while raising money for our programs.

You would also create simple Canva graphics and post a few times per week leading up to each event so we can encourage others in the area to join in.

If organizing small things, sharing updates, and helping people connect sounds like you, this is a fun role that maybe takes about an hour a week.

• Learn Printful and help manage products

• Gather design ideas from members and local artists

• Assist with simple Google Ads tasks

• Create and post social media content to showcase new merch

This role fits someone who likes creative projects and wants to help the club bring in steady support. If you enjoy design ideas, online tools, or sharing cool merch with others, this is an easy and fun way to get involved.

Cultural Outreach and Events Coordinator

Help us connect with local cultural groups and set up small learn to paddle gatherings at the Aquatic Center. These events bring people together, encourage cultural sharing, and help our club build real relationships in the community. They can include a short paddle session and a relaxed potluck.

This role fits someone who enjoys meeting new people, planning friendly get-togethers, and keeping communication clear.

You would:

• Reach out to local cultural groups and introduce our club

• Coordinate dates and basic plans for one or two learn to paddle events

• Work with the Aquatic Center on space needs

• Help organize simple potluck plans and communicate with members

• Share updates and reminders with the club

If you enjoy connecting people and helping create meaningful experiences, this is a fun and steady way to support our club.
